The presentation examines how the Philippines implements its strategy toward the Indo-Pacific. The analysis allows drawing conclusions concerning the perception of the Indo-Pacific by the countries which are strongly linked with the U.S. but are not members of the Quad alliance. It also enables to address a number of other issues, including the way in which countries in significant geostrategic locations, but having little or limited power, function in the international arena. The main research method used while preparing a presentation was content analysis – an analysis of legal acts and strategies adopted by state authorities and non-government organizations, political manifestos, and reports. The research problems formulated for the analysis concern two issues – the perception of the Indo-Pacific and of the Philippines’ position within its framework, both from the perspective of the United States and of the Philippines, and the Philippines’ foreign policy regarding the main regional players, with particular attention given to the U.S. and China. The analysis concludes with an assessment of the prospects for the trajectory of the Philippines’ international involvement in the years to come. These conclusions may be of importance for the nature of relations in the Indo-Pacific region and for the future of the concept itself.
